Job summary

Spire is seeking a Senior Analyst to support regulatory activities across all Spire jurisdictions from our St. Louis, MO office. This role emphasizes financial and regulatory modeling, and requires a strong accounting and financial background.

The Senior Analyst will assist with state regulation, forecasting and modeling, and the preparation and filing of regulatory submissions and pleadings. Collaboration with Finance and Regulatory teams is essential to support rate recovery and compliance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related business discipline.
• Professional certification (CPA, CMA, CFA) preferred.
• Five years of work experience in financial planning, corporate or utility accounting.
• Knowledge of GAAP and financial statement analysis.
• Strong Excel, Word, and PowerPoint capabilities.

Responsibilities

• Develop, maintain, and validate financial models supporting revenue requirement, cost of service, rate base, and rate design analyses for rate case filings and other regulatory proceedings.
• Support the preparation and filing of base rate proceedings and related reporting in all jurisdictions.
• Communicate with public service commission staff, consumer advocates, and other stakeholders regarding regulatory filings.
• Provide testimony, as needed, in general rate case proceedings and other regulatory filings.
• Work with various functions across the Company to prepare responses to data requests and inquiries from public service commission staff, consumer advocates, and intervenors.
• Assist in the timely and accurate completion of special projects assigned to the department, often requiring analyzing large data sets.
• Partner with FP&A on forecasting and scenario modeling to evaluate regulatory treatment and rate filings.
• Monitor and research regulatory trends in the natural gas utility industry and prepare update memos and analyses for leadership.
• Help ensure compliance with regulatory requirements in all jurisdictions we operate in.
• Strong work ethic with proactive approach and intellectual curiosity.
• Develop clear, informative, and persuasive business presentations.
• Exceptional attention to detail and integrity in financial models and regulatory work.
