Job summary

Type One Energy Group, Inc. seeks a Real-Time Engineer to support the Plasma Control System (PCS) for a stellarator fusion power plant.

You will implement real-time control software and supporting hardware with the PCS lead scientists and CODAC engineers, enabling high-performance plasma operation. Responsibilities include designing, testing, and maintaining real-time PCS infrastructure, collaborating across teams, and delivering robust control software for mission-critical operations.

Qualifications

  • B.S. or M.S. in Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related technical field.
  • 3+ years of experience implementing real-time control systems in production or operational environments.
  • Strong expertise in embedded systems and deterministic real-time operating systems (RTOS).
  • Deep practical knowledge of concurrent, multi-threaded, multi-processor, and networked computation architectures.
  • Mastery of C/C++ development.
  • Extensive experience implementing continuous integration and automated testing pipelines.

Responsibilities

  • Architect a performant, user-centered, high-availability real-time PCS infrastructure.
  • Implement PCS functionality (real-time execution and configuration) as defined by the PCS Lead, including control algorithms, finite state machines, and machine-learning inference.
  • Translate mathematical models into executable real-time code.
