Job summary

Jacobs is seeking a Rail/Track Engineering co-op in Boston, MA. You will design track alignments and perform civil design calculations, developing details and sketches to support rail/transit projects from concept to completion.

The role offers exposure to project management, contract documents, and construction phase services within a collaborative team. Hybrid work policy applies, and the session runs January–June 2027.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering.
• Professional expertise with MicroStation and/or InRail (or AutoCAD).
• Knowledge of AREMA and local railroad criteria.
• EIT certification or pursuing a Master’s in Civil Engineering.
• Authorization to work in the United States without visa sponsorship.

Responsibilities

• Design horizontal and vertical track alignments for rail/transit projects.
• Perform civil design calculations, develop details and sketches.
• Prepare quantity calculations for preconstruction cost estimates.
• Contribute from concept to completion on project teams.
• Support Contract Documents for Construction and review submittals and RFIs.
