Job summary

Johnson & Johnson's Orthopaedics team is seeking a Research & Development Engineer to lead design and development of implants and instrumentation in a hybrid West Chester, PA role. You will collaborate across functions to translate clinical needs into robust product designs, conduct design verification and validation, and support regulatory submissions.

Qualifications

• BS in Mechanical or Biomedical Engineering.
• 2–6 years in the design and development of medical devices or biomechanical systems.
• Hands-on engineering experience.
• Experience with CAD software.
• Able to work in Operating Room settings and with wet tissues/cadaver.

Responsibilities

• Lead design and development projects with cross-functional team oversight.
• Engage healthcare professionals to define user needs and design inputs.
• Solve design problems using CAD, prototyping, and other methods.
• Develop verification/validation plans and support regulatory submissions (MDR, FDA).
• Collaborate with supply chain/manufacturing to optimize designs for manufacturability.
