Placements24 seeks a detail-oriented Quantity Surveyor to join its commercial construction team in Welkom. This hybrid role handles cost estimation, tendering, contract administration, and financial control from tender to project completion.

The ideal candidate has a degree or diploma in Quantity Surveying, at least 6 years of QS experience, and proficiency with cost estimation software. Strong analytical skills and the ability to work in a hybrid setting are essential.

Qualifications

• Degree or Diploma in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related field.
• Minimum of 6 years of experience as a Quantity Surveyor, preferably in commercial construction.
• Proficiency in cost estimation software, measurement techniques, and contract administration (e.g., NEC, FIDIC).
• Strong understanding of construction economics, market rates, and tendering processes.
• Excellent analytical, numerical, and negotiation skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a hybrid work environment.

Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed cost estimates, bills of quantities, and tender documents for commercial construction projects.
• Evaluate tenders, negotiate with subcontractors and suppliers, and manage contract administration throughout the project lifecycle.
• Monitor project expenditures, track costs against budget, and prepare interim and final payment valuations and claims.
• Identify and manage cost risks and opportunities, implementing cost control measures to optimize project profitability.
• Conduct site visits to verify work progress and ensure compliance with contractual obligations.
• Liaise with project managers, engineers, architects, and clients to provide financial advice and ensure transparency in project finances.
