Job summary

New York Life is seeking a Python AI Developer to design, build, and operationalize AI features and a reusable enterprise AI/agent services layer within Corporate Functions Technology. You will integrate with existing enterprise applications and collaborate with cross-functional teams in a regulated environment.

This role requires strong Python skills, experience with LLMs, REST APIs, and cloud/container technologies.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of professional software development experience with Python in an enterprise setting.
• Experience building AI services with LLM integrations and agent frameworks.
• Experience designing and testing AI applications, including evaluation pipelines.
• Experience designing and consuming REST APIs and integrating services across tech stacks (Java-based systems valued).
• Familiarity with cloud platforms (GCP/AWS) and container orchestration (Docker/Kubernetes).

Responsibilities

• Design and build Python-based AI services (LLM integrations, embeddings/vector search, agent frameworks) with clean APIs.
• Create a reusable enterprise AI/agent services layer that can be consumed by multiple applications across Corporate Functions.
• Collaborate with Enterprise Developers to define contracts and data flows between the AI services and application layer.
• Implement guardrails, human oversight mechanisms, monitoring, and evaluation pipelines for regulated outputs.
• Work with Compliance, Risk, Legal, and Model Risk Management to meet governance standards and external regulatory expectations.
• Build data pipelines connecting AI services to internal systems, handling sensitive policyholder, HR, and financial data.
• Write production-quality Python code and contribute to CI/CD pipelines, observability, and operational readiness.
• Participate in architecture/security reviews and model validation activities as part of enterprise AI governance.
• Stay current with AI/ML governance trends and advocate responsible adoption in a regulated environment.
