Job summary

The Department of Transportation (NYC DOT) seeks a Planning, Design and Policy Analyst for the Public Realm Unit within the TPM Division. The role focuses on neighborhood planning, data-driven analysis, and collaborative project delivery to promote equity, walkability, and greening across New York City.

Responsibilities include developing metrics, producing public-facing materials, and coordinating with city agencies and community stakeholders to implement Open Streets and pedestrian-friendly

Qualifications

• Professional experience in urban planning, urban design, or urban geography, with a practical understanding of transportation planning, data analysis and modelling.
• Experience with mapping software (ArcGIS), Computer-Aided Design (AutoCAD), Adobe Creative Suite, statistics, and Microsoft 365 desired.
• Ability to work independently and in a highly collaborative environment, respond to and manage against tight timelines, identify and prioritize among competing needs and opportunities, and manage multiple projects at the same time.
• Strong organizational, administrative, writing and graphic communication skills, with a creative thinking and problem-solving approach.
• Strong communication skills with public speaking experience desired and demonstrated interest in the public realm.

Responsibilities

• Engage in neighborhood planning and project coordination for Public Realm initiatives.
• Identify, collect, and analyze data to support planning studies and policy development.
• Develop visual aids, maps and diagrams to present work deliverables.
• Manage projects from inception through completion, coordinating with DOT and external partners.
