Job summary

New York City Department of Transportation seeks an Associate Urban Designer to join the Public Realm Unit within the Transportation Planning and Management division. You will support neighborhood planning, coordinate projects, and analyze data including traffic capacity studies, delivering visuals and reports to inform city planning decisions.

Ideal candidates have urban planning/design experience, strong data skills, and ability to work with agencies and community stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Professional experience in urban planning, urban design, or urban geography.
• Practical understanding of transportation planning, data analysis and modelling.
• ArcGIS, AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Suite, statistics, and Microsoft 365 desired.

Responsibilities

• Neighborhood planning and project coordination from inception to completion.
• Data identification, collection, and analysis with emphasis on traffic capacity analyses.
• Develop visual aids (maps/diagrams) to represent deliverables and communicate results.
