Job summary

The NYC Public Health Laboratory (PHL) within the NYC Department of Health and Mental Hygiene is seeking an Associate Laboratory Microbiologist Level I. The role involves assisting with routine operations, performing high and moderate complexity testing, and maintaining quality systems in BSL-2/BSL-3 environments.

Eligibility for NYS Clinical Laboratory Technologist License is required or pending. Candidates will work under supervision, may participate in surge testing, and support data entry

Qualifications

• Minimum qualifications include a bachelor’s degree in medical technology or related sciences and one year of laboratory experience
• Alternative: 90 college credits with one year of lab experience
• Eligibility for NYS Clinical Laboratory Technologist License (Article 165) preferred or required

Responsibilities

• Assist lab supervisors with routine operations and administrative tasks.
• Perform high and moderate complexity testing on clinical and environmental specimens.
• Work with BSL-2 and BSL-3 containment as needed.
• Generate reports, maintain records, and verify results.
• Cross-train across PHL for surge coverage and 다양한 methods.
