State of Washington Department of Social and Health Services is seeking a Public Benefits Specialist 4 to determine eligibility for Medicaid and related benefits. You will review income/assets, interview clients, and apply state and federal rules to decide who qualifies for long-term care, health coverage, and food programs.

Hybrid telework is offered with in-person days as needed; opportunities may be permanent, non-permanent, or project-based through 06/30/2027.

Qualificações

• Must have completed the Public Benefits Specialist Training Program or equivalent.
• Bachelor’s or higher and 12 months of experience as PBS 3, or PBS 2 determining long-term care eligibility.
• Equivalent education/experience totaling at least five years can substitute education and experience.

Responsabilidades

• Decide eligibility for long-term care programs such as in-home care, services, hospice and nursing facility care.
• Interview clients, family members, guardians, and attorneys by phone.
• Review income and assets to determine health coverage and food benefits eligibility.
• Explain rules and next steps clearly to clients.
• Collaborate with case managers, providers, guardians, and attorneys.
• Protect confidential information in all case records.
