You will handle property claims, gather information, determine coverage, set reserves, and communicate with insureds. A bachelor’s degree is preferred and 2–4 years of claim handling experience is desirable; state licenses may be required.

Qualifications

• Two to four years of claim handling and/or insurance-related experience is preferred.
• Bachelor's degree preferred. A combination of equivalent education and/or experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
• Completion of courses in designations INS, AIC, or CPCU is preferred.
• Ability to obtain and maintain state adjusting license requirements and complete continuing education requirements.

Responsibilities

• Handle low-to-moderate value commercial property claims with shorter duration and lower indemnity.
• Gather and review claim information, determine coverage, and conduct investigations.
• Initiate and maintain customer contact to provide updates and resolve issues.
• Set reserves and make payments within authority; refer higher-value claims as needed.
• Deny losses under limited supervision with explanations citing facts and policy language.
• Communicate professionally with insureds and vendors; manage claim expenses by vendor management.
