Job summary

EMCS, Inc. seeks an experienced Project Manager to lead transportation and bridge projects in the Indianapolis area. You will coordinate staff, manage scope, schedules, budgets, and client relationships while mentoring teams and pursuing new opportunities.

The role may include taking a technical lead in your primary area and collaborating with experts across transportation and structural services. Hybrid work options are available and the firm values professional growth.

Qualifications

BS or MS in Civil Engineering or Structural Engineering.
Professional Engineer registration in Indiana, or ability to obtain within six months.
At least eight years of progressive civil engineering experience with transportation or structural focus.
Familiarity with MicroStation, OpenRoads, AutoCAD, Civil 3D or bridge-design software.
Project management or technical leadership on transportation, bridge, municipal, or DOT projects; INDOT experience preferred.
Experience developing and managing project scopes, schedules, and budgets.
Experience performing or overseeing quality control reviews.
Ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and manage assignments beyond primary specialty.
Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain client relationships.
Experience supporting business development, identifying opportunities, or preparing proposals.
Strong organizational, leadership, and decision-making skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

Serve as project manager for transportation, bridge, and related structural projects.
Develop project scopes, schedules, budgets, contracts, and staffing plans.
Monitor performance, including budgets, invoicing, and deliverables.
Coordinate assignments and oversee engineers, technicians, and staff.
Facilitate collaboration between transportation and structural teams for integrated solutions.
Serve as technical lead within transportation or structural expertise.
Coordinate with leads when projects extend beyond primary specialty.
Perform or oversee quality control reviews for deliverables.
Develop and maintain relationships with state, municipal, county, and private clients.
Identify opportunities and lead or support proposals and client presentations.
Mentor engineers and technicians and support their development.
Participate in meetings, site visits, and client coordination.
Help expand EMCS transportation and structural services in Indiana and nearby regions.
