New South Associates, Inc. is seeking a full-time, benefited Project Archaeologist for our Stone Mountain, Georgia office.

The role involves directing field crews, conducting archaeological work from planning to report completion, and meeting Secretary of the Interior qualifications by August 31, 2026. The candidate must have strong organizational, verbal, and writing skills, with experience across Phase I–III investigations, and be able to work in a hybrid office/field setting in the

Qualifications

• BA/BS or higher in anthropology/archaeology, history, historic preservation, geography, geosciences, cultural resources management, or related fields.
• MA/MS or PhD in anthropology/archaeology or related fields by Aug 31, 2026.

Responsibilities

• Plan and execute projects within scoping, budget, and schedule constraints.
• Direct field crews and collaborate with lab staff, historians, and GIS specialists.
• Record archaeological resources and collect field data.
• Conduct archival/historical research and interpret archaeological data.
• Prepare CRM reports and other deliverables compliant with state/federal guidelines.
• Train new staff in field techniques and best practices.
