Penguin Random House Corporate Bookmaking is seeking a Production Editor to support the Crown Publishing Group. You will oversee a diverse list of titles, collaborating with editorial, design, and production teams to move projects from manuscript to finished book.

The role requires strong copyediting, proofreading, and Chicago Manual of Style expertise, with the ability to manage schedules, QA ebooks, and handle jacket copy.

Competenze

• Minimum of 5 years of publishing experience in a production editorial capacity.
• Proven ability to work on a wide variety of books including complex nonfiction and illustrated projects.
• The ability to set and meet deadlines.
• The ability to prioritize multiple assignments in a deadline-driven environment.
• Strong copyediting and proofreading skills.
• Knowledge of modern copyediting style and language evolution.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team, anticipating problems and prioritizing tasks.
• Excellent attention to detail and highly organized.
• Proficiency with Word (track changes) and Adobe Acrobat.
• Knowledge of The Chicago Manual of Style, 18th edition.

Mansioni

• Hiring and assessing the work of freelance copy editors, proofreaders, cold readers, and indexers.
• Preparing and styling initial text transmittals using a Penguin Random House Word-based platform.
• Coordinating with editorial, production, and design departments to see titles through to completion.
• Managing schedules and updating the progress of projects in File Maker Pro.
• Reviewing and collating author and proofreader edits in Adobe Acrobat, including copyediting and fact-checking.
• Keeping books on schedule and error-free under tight deadlines.
• Copyediting and proofreading supplementary material such as front matter, back matter, jacket and cover copy, and promotional material.
• Reviewing and approving jacket and cover routings.
• Overseeing freelancers performing quality assurance reviews on ebooks.
• Performing administrative duties including invoice processing, system updates, and status reports.
