Job summary

Tier4 Group is seeking an Applications Support Engineer to help run and optimize production applications in a hybrid Atlanta environment. You’ll dig into logs, work on Windows and Linux servers, and build automation to reduce recurring issues.

The role emphasizes urgency, ownership, and clear communication during incidents while collaborating with cross-functional teams to improve tooling, monitoring, and reliability.

Qualifications

• Experience in Application or Production Support or Site Reliability Engineering.
• Strong scripting and automation experience with Python and/or PowerShell.
• Experience with Windows and Linux.
• Experience with monitoring/logging/observability tools (Datadog, Splunk).
• Strong SQL skills.
• Understanding of how applications interact with servers, databases, networks, APIs.

Responsibilities

• Own and troubleshoot complex production application issues from identification through resolution.
• Work hands-on with Windows and Linux servers to diagnose application and system issues.
• Use logs, monitoring, and observability tools to identify problems and prevent outages.
• Build and improve automation using Python, PowerShell, Bash, or similar languages.
• Use SQL to investigate and troubleshoot application and data-related issues.
• Support integrations and troubleshoot issues across applications, APIs, servers, databases, networks, and cloud infrastructure.
• Identify repetitive operational work that can be automated.
• Perform root-cause analysis and help prevent recurring incidents.
• Partner with development, infrastructure, networking, QA, and other technology teams.
• Improve documentation, runbooks, monitoring, and operational processes.
• Participate in an on-call rotation supporting critical production systems.
