Job summary

The New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene (NYC Health Department) is seeking an Assistant Printing Press Operator within the Graphics and Reproduction Unit. Under direct supervision, you will assist in operating cylinder-type presses, set up presses, and handle multiple printing and finishing tasks including wide-format machines, binding, and labeling of printed materials.

Responsibilities

• Assist in operation of large-scale cylinder-type printing presses including web presses.
• Set up press for printing/start up press.
• Operate wide format machines.
• Assist and operate the shrink wrap machine.
• Assist with the mailing inserting machine.
• Monitor operation of running presses and make adjustments to meet job specifications.
• Maintain machines and assist in routine repairs.
• Load paper and load ink to produce colors or shades.
• Operate cutters, set up machinery, monitor operation, produce uniform impressions.
• Assist with quality assurance and ensure material meets quality and order requirements.
• Assist with packing, labeling, and submitting transportation requests.
