Job summary

Leonardo UK is seeking a Principal Test Systems Engineer for its Southampton facility. You will lead specification, design, procurement, manufacture, verification and deployment of test equipment and procedures across multi-disciplinary teams.

This hands-on role requires coordinating project work, developing new test capabilities, managing budgets and timelines, and delivering robust test systems for infrared detectors from development to production.

Qualifications

• HNC/HND or higher in Physics/Engineering and equivalent experience.
• Ability to verify electro-mechanical test systems, fault finding and problem solving.
• Ability to assimilate and apply technical information to design tasks.
• Demonstrate good organisation, planning and execution of work with attention to detail.
• Ability to work closely in a team with other engineering and science disciplines.

Responsibilities

• Take ownership and deliver work packages to time and budget, tracking costs and progress.
• Identify needs to deliver proposed test systems for detector/module development.
• Generate work packages and estimate costs to deliver those needs.
• Develop, procure, install and commission new test capabilities for testing performance of new product types.
• Prove by testing the new test systems and report how they meet requirements.
• Author and present governance/technical documentation; act as Test Lead at Integrated Product Team meetings.
