Job summary

Univar Solutions in Downers Grove, IL, is seeking a detail-oriented Payroll Accountant to accurately record payroll transactions in the general ledger, analyze payroll costs, and support financial reporting and audits. This hybrid role reports to the corporate headquarters and requires 3+ years of accounting with payroll exposure.

You will work with Excel, SAP, and OneStream, ensuring compliance with US GAAP, maintaining accrual calendars, and collaborating with finance teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or business administration.
• Minimum of 3 years of accounting experience, preferably with payroll exposure.
• Solid understanding of US GAAP.
• Experience with process improvement and efficiency.

Responsibilities

• Record payroll entries in the general ledger promptly.
• Maintain payroll accrual calendars and mapping of payroll codes.
• Perform month-end close activities and payroll accruals.
• Analyze variances in monthly, quarterly, and annual results.
• Prepare and review balance sheet reconciliations and fluctuations.
• Support internal and external audits with schedules and docs.
• Develop and maintain accounting policies and systems for compliance.
• Collaborate with managers to address financial inquiries.
• Document processes and keep records up to date.
• Perform ad hoc analyses as needed.
