Job summary

Fenwick & West is seeking a Legal Support Analyst to assist attorneys and clients, ensuring compliance with firm policies. The role offers a hybrid schedule across U.S. offices, 40 hours per week, and reports to the Legal Support Analyst Supervisor.

A bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience is preferred, with 2–3 years of patent prosecution experience. The position emphasizes organizing patent documents, managing deadlines, and coordinating with attorneys, patent agents, and paralegals.

• Bachelor’s degree preferred or equivalent.
• Strong organizational and communication skills in a professional services environment.

Responsibilities

• Generate reports from firm databases and outside databases of client patent applications and patent portfolios.
• Prepare and organize materials for Information Disclosure Statements for filing with the USPTO.
• Prepare and send formal documents including assignments and declarations to inventors for execution. Record and file documents with the USPTO.
• Prepare and file US National Stage (371) applications with the USPTO.
• Monitor upcoming patent-related deadlines and generate reports/materials relating to same.
• Prepare documents for filing by the firm’s attorneys, patent agents and paralegals.
• Order, organize and prepare file histories and related documents from USPTO, co-counsel in other jurisdictions and other sources.
• Utilize firm databases and third-party tools and databases (e.g., PatSnap, Orbit, USPTO Patent Center) and Microsoft Office suite.
• Pay attention to upcoming due dates by reviewing docket daily and flag urgent deadlines to attorneys/agents/paralegals.
• Draft, revise and finalize various patent documents including filings, amendments and assignments.
• Proofread and suggest edits on patent and related documents.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
