Job summary

Redpath and Company is seeking an Outsourced Controller for construction clients, based in Saint Paul, MN. The role supports financial reporting, budgets, and project-level analysis while engaging with client owners and project managers.

The position offers a competitive salary up to $150,000 with a hybrid work schedule and a hands-on, high-impact environment within a growing CPA advisory firm. CPA/CMA preferred and 5+ years in construction accounting are desired.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (CPA or CMA preferred).
• 5+ years of accounting experience, with significant exposure to construction.
• Strong knowledge of job cost accounting, WIP reporting, revenue recognition, and construction financial controls.
• Experience partnering with client-facing operations and project teams in a fast-paced, consulting environment.
• High level of attention to detail, ownership, and professionalism.
• Ability to work independently, prioritize competing deadlines, and proactively solve problems.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to translate financial data into actionable insights.

Responsibilities

• Oversee all aspects of client construction accounting and financial reporting, including WIP schedules, job cost accounting, and percentage-of-completion reporting.
• Manage client project-level budgets, forecasts, and cash flow, ensuring alignment with operational and financial targets.
• Monitor job cost performance, identify variances, and partner with client project managers to address risks and improve profitability.
• Support client leadership with financial analysis, dashboards, and ad hoc reporting to inform strategic decision-making.
• Ensure client financial records are maintained with a high level of accuracy, compliance, and confidentiality.
• Complete monthly close ensuring timely and accurate financial statements.
• Maintain and strengthen internal controls, policies, and procedures to support client company scalability and risk management.
