Job summary

Redpath and Company is growing its outsourced controller practice to support construction clients with financial reporting, system optimization, and operational initiatives. The role focuses on overseeing project accounting, budgets, cash flow, and profitability for multiple client engagements.

You will collaborate with client owners and project managers, deliver timely close, and drive insights through dashboards and analyses while upholding high standards of accuracy and confidentiality.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field.
• CPA or CMA preferred.
• 5+ years of accounting experience with construction exposure.
• Strong knowledge of job cost accounting, WIP reporting, revenue recognition and construction controls.
• Experience partnering with client-facing operations in a fast-paced consulting environment.

Responsibilities

• Oversee all aspects of client construction accounting and financial reporting, including WIP schedules and percentage-of-completion reporting.
• Manage client project budgets, forecasts and cash flow.
• Monitor job cost performance, identify variances, and collaborate with project managers to address risks and profitability.
• Provide financial analysis, dashboards, and ad hoc reporting to inform strategic decisions.
• Maintain accurate, compliant and confidential client financial records.
• Complete monthly close and ensure timely financial statements.
• Strengthen internal controls, policies and procedures to support scalability and risk management.

We are offering an exciting opportunity for an Outsourced Controller to support our construction clients. Our Outsourced Controllers typically work directly with a number of clients during a month to support their financial reporting, system, and operational initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

• Oversee all aspects of client construction accounting and financial reporting, including WIP schedules, job cost accounting, and percentage-of-completion reporting
• Manage client project-level budgets, forecasts, and cash flow, ensuring alignment with operational and financial targets
• Monitor job cost performance, identify variances, and partner with client project managers to address risks and improve profitability
• Support client leadership with financial analysis, dashboards, and ad hoc reporting to inform strategic decision-making
• Ensure client financial records are maintained with a high level of accuracy, compliance, and confidentiality
• Complete monthly close ensuring timely and accurate financial statements
• Maintain and strengthen internal controls, policies, and procedures to support client company scalability and risk management

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (CPA or CMA preferred)
• 5+ years of accounting experience, with significant exposure to construction
• Strong knowledge of job cost accounting, WIP reporting, revenue recognition, and construction financial controls
• Experience partnering with client-facing operations and project teams in a fast-paced, consulting environment
• High level of attention to detail, ownership, and professionalism
• Ability to work independently, prioritize competing deadlines, and proactively solve problems
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to translate financial data into actionable insights
