Job summary

The Ohio State University College of Optometry is seeking an Optometry Claims Coordinator to join our Billing Office team. This role handles data analysis and in-depth evaluation of patient accounts, acting as a liaison between clinicians, patients, and 3rd party payers for insurance coverage.

The position performs all aspects of patient billing and collection processing, including claim submission, insurance follow up, payment posting, and account reconciliation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree not required beyond high school; high attention to detail and accuracy.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and submit billing data for vision and medical claims to insurance companies.
• Internal billings for safety glasses or research projects.
• Verify patient information is accurate and up to date.
• Collect and review referrals and pre-authorizations.
• Monitor and record late payments monthly.
• Follow up on missed payments and resolve financial discrepancies.
• Examine patient bills for accuracy and request missing information.
• Investigate and appeal denied claims.
• Verify Insurance and Benefits.
