Job summary

Waymo LLC is hiring for a software engineer to advance ADV's modular architectures, focusing on high-performance compute usage for on-vehicle and data-center simulations. You will collaborate across teams to reduce latency and optimize resources, with a strong emphasis on C++ and profile-guided techniques.

Qualified candidates have a BS in a related field and at least 3 years of software engineering experience, including hands-on work in C++.

Qualifications

• BS in CS, EE, Robotics, Physics, Math, or related field (or equivalent experience).
• 3 years of experience as a software engineer or similar roles.
• 3 years of experience in C++.

Responsibilities

• Develop modular architecture improvements and frameworks to maximize performance and compute use.
• Evolve compute usage on car and simulation for scaling, ensuring speed on car and in data centers.
• Collaborate with onboard teams to identify and improve compute bottlenecks across the stack.
• Collaborate with hardware teams to codesign hardware/software for best performance.
• Ensure reaction latency for collision avoidance and design fast nominal performance.
