Job summary

CFS in Providence, RI is seeking a high-impact Controller for a nonprofit organization. You will lead all accounting and financial operations, partner with leadership and program teams, and own financial reporting, budgeting and controls.

The role offers a hybrid work schedule (3 days in office) with base salary of $125,000–$150,000 plus benefits and bonus potential, aligning with nonprofit leadership expectations and mission-driven impact.

Qualifications

• Experience leading nonprofit accounting and compliance.
• Proven ability to lead close processes and manage a finance team.
• Strong communication and hands-on leadership style.
• Familiarity with GAAP, audits, and Form 990.

Responsibilities

• Lead all accounting and financial operations, including general ledger and month-/year-end close.
• Prepare and present accurate financial reports for leadership, funders and stakeholders.
• Support annual budgeting, forecasting, and program-level financial planning.
• Oversee GAAP compliance and regulatory audits, including Form 990.
• Manage, mentor and develop finance staff while improving processes and controls.
