Job summary

PenTeleData is seeking a Network Support Specialist to monitor, repair, and escalate core network issues in our NCC. You will work across MPLS networks, routers, switches, and access devices to prevent outages and resolve problems quickly.

The role requires PA residency, CCNA certification, strong TCP/IP knowledge, and excellent customer service. Training occurs in Palmerton, PA with potential limited work-from-home after onboarding.

Qualifications

• Associates Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or Telecommunications, or minimum of 2 years’ experience in electronics/communications/networking.
• Residency in Pennsylvania (PA) required.
• Valid PA Driver’s License with a good driving record.
• CCNA certification required.
• Knowledge and experience with Cisco products.
• General understanding of how routing protocols work.
• Comprehensive understanding of TCP/IP and troubleshooting tools.
• Understanding of routers, firewalls, and switches interoperability.
• Some understanding of VoIP and Call Centers (ACD).
• Knowledge of Docsis Cable Modem and DSL networks.
• Excellent customer service and communication skills.
• Ability to work varied hours/shifts and be on-call.

Responsibilities

• Monitor core and customer network service outages and issues, take ownership, and drive to resolution.
• Coordinate with partners, Service Providers, Vendors, and Field personnel to troubleshoot outages.
• Investigate, mitigate, and block potential network-related attacks.
• Interface with commercial customers to troubleshoot and resolve issues.
• Receive and resolve escalations from Technical Support for complex problems.
• Support and troubleshoot issues in managed customer networks.
• Communicate network health to customers and teams.
• Escalate to engineering and other departments for complex issues.
• Handle subpoenas for law enforcement agencies as needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
