Job summary

GRAIL is seeking a Network Engineer to join its Platform Engineering group in Durham, NC. You will design, implement, and operate hybrid networking across on‑prem labs, data centers, and AWS, delivering secure and scalable services.

You will partner with Platform, Cloud, Security, and Infrastructure teams to drive automation, observability, and modern networking practices, with on‑site work and on‑call responsibilities.

Qualifications

• 4+ years designing, implementing, and supporting enterprise network infrastructure.
• 3+ years with Juniper/Aruba platforms and network troubleshooting.
• 3+ years managing Palo Alto firewalls, including security policies and VPNs.
• 2+ years AWS networking experience including VPCs and hybrid connectivity.
• Experience with BGP/OSPF, VLANs, STP, LACP, VRRP, and related tech.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and support enterprise network infrastructure across campus, labs, data centers, manufacturing, and AWS.
• Deploy, maintain, and troubleshoot Juniper/Aruba switching and routing, including L2/L3 networks and data center tech.
• Configure and optimize Palo Alto firewalls, security policies, NAT, VPNs, and GlobalProtect.
• Design, implement, and support AWS networking services including VPCs, Transit Gateway, Route Tables, Security Groups, and Direct Connect.
• Develop infrastructure automation using Python, Ansible, Terraform, or PowerShell to improve provisioning and consistency.
• Build and maintain network monitoring, alerting, dashboards using New Relic and other tools.
• Collaborate with Platform Engineering, Cloud, Security, and Infrastructure teams on deployments and migrations.
• Participate in lifecycle management: hardware refreshes, software upgrades, DR planning, standardized configurations.
• Create and maintain technical docs, diagrams, runbooks, and engineering standards.
• Participate in on-call rotation to support production infrastructure.
• Leverage AI-assisted engineering tools to improve troubleshooting, automation, and documentation.
