Job summary

Tyler Technologies Wisconsin team is hiring a Software Engineer in Madison. You will design, build, and maintain ASP.NET Framework and modern .NET applications used by Wisconsin residents and state staff.

The role is hybrid with three in-office days per week, offering ownership of features end-to-end and collaboration across the stack. You will work from the Madison office on Wednesdays and Thursdays, with remote days the rest of the week, and you will mentor junior engineers while improving

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, software engineering, computer engineering, or related field or equivalent experience.
• 2+ years of professional software development with increasing technical responsibility.
• Proficiency in C# and .NET across Framework and modern .NET.
• Web development with ASP.NET MVC, Razor Pages, RESTful APIs, JavaScript, HTML, CSS, and Bootstrap; jQuery knowledge.
• SQL Server with schema design; EF 6 and EF Core.
• Solid architecture/design pattern knowledge; scalable systems.
• Secure coding: authentication, RBAC, encryption, input validation.
• CI/CD, Docker, Git/GitHub; collaborative workflows.
• Experience with agentic AI coding tools and human-in-the-loop review.
• Full SDLC experience shipping features and supporting production systems.
• Strong written/verbal communication for docs and reviews.

Responsibilities

• Design and deliver features from requirements through deployment.
• Full-stack work from database schema to API to UI.
• Maintain and modernize ASP.NET Framework apps; migrate to modern .NET.
• Debug across stack; optimize database queries and performance.
• Champion secure coding, testing, and API design practices.
• Own testing strategy and code coverage for your areas.
• Mentor junior engineers and onboard new teammates.
• Participate in on-call rotation and incident response.
• Contribute to shared internal code libraries; write docs.
