Job summary

Tyler Technologies, Inc. in Madison, Wisconsin, is seeking a Software Engineer to design, build, and maintain applications used by residents, businesses, and state staff. You will own features end to end across ASP.NET Framework and modern .NET, with a focus on secure, scalable solutions.

This hybrid role requires three days onsite per week at the Madison office, with remote work the rest of the time. You will collaborate across the stack and contribute to documentation and code reviews.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, software engineering, computer engineering, or related field or equivalent experience.
• 2+ years of professional software development with clear progression in responsibility.
• Proficiency in C# and .NET across .NET Framework and modern .NET.
• MS SQL Server design and querying, Entity Framework 6 and EF Core.
• Solid understanding of architecture, patterns, and scalable systems.
• Secure coding: RBAC, encryption, input validation, and secure design.
• CI/CD pipelines, Docker, and Git/GitHub collaboration.
• Experience with agentic AI coding tools and human-in-the-loop patterns.
• Full software lifecycle experience and production support.
• Clear written and verbal communication for docs and reviews.

Responsibilities

• Design and deliver complete features from requirements through deployment.
• Work full stack: DB schema, API, UI.
• Maintain and modernize ASP.NET Framework apps and migrate to modern .NET.
• Debug and optimize across the stack and queries.
• Follow best practices for security, testing, and API design.
• Own testing strategy and code coverage for your areas.
• Mentor juniors and onboard new engineers.
• Suggest process improvements to speed the team.
