Job summary

Federated Hermes invites talented students to join a Summer Internship Program in Pittsburgh, with hands-on experience on the money market trading desk. You will assist with trade execution, market monitoring, data reconciliation, and trade support while gaining insight into trading operations and financial markets.

Qualifications

• Pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree in finance, economics, mathematics, statistics, computer science, engineering, data science, or a related quantitative discipline.
• Strong quantitative, analytical, and problem‑solving abilities with an interest in financial markets and fixed income investments.
• Demonstrated programming experience in Python; experience with data‑analysis libraries and application development is preferred.
• Working knowledge of statistics, econometrics, machine learning, time‑series analysis, or quantitative research methods; exposure to Bloomberg Terminal, Bloomberg BQuant, SQL, Git, or similar tools is preferred.
• Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly to both technical and nontechnical audiences.

Responsibilities

• Participate in trade execution, market, sector, and portfolio meetings to build knowledge of fixed income products and trading decisions.
• Trade support: assist with trade entry, confirmation, and settlement checks.
• Communication: monitor market chats, answer phones, read market analyses, and report findings to the group.
• Market research: track market movements, sector news, and economic data relevant to the desk’s positions.
• Data reconciliation: reconcile daily cash positions and monitor settlements and fund allocations.
• Participate in the development of AI solutions for money market trading activities.
