Job summary

UCAR is seeking a Machine Learning Educational Trainer to design and deliver ML/AI training for NSF NCAR and the EdEC team. The role develops Earth system science training materials, coordinates staff training, and curates resources to strengthen our ML workforce across the institute.

This is a two-year fixed-term position with relocation assistance up to $3500 and on-site 3 days per week. A Master’s or equivalent experience is preferred, with opportunities to contribute to reports and

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in a relevant discipline plus three years of relevant experience; or Bachelor’s degree plus eight years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Strong written and oral communication, editing, proofreading, and professional etiquette, with collaborative teamwork across diverse backgrounds.
• Advanced organizational skills, multi-tasking abilities, initiative and problem-solving capabilities.
• Proficiency in standard PC applications, Google Apps, databases, and network computing environments.
• Knowledge of travel logistics and related administrative procedures.

Responsibilities

• Creates, designs, and delivers interactive professional development on AI/ML with Earth system science applications.
• Develops, adapts, and curates instructional materials for varied levels of AI/ML expertise.
• Coordinates technical training activities, plans events, and manages logistics and participant engagement.
• Represents NCAR EdEC in AI program activities and builds collaborations across researchers and educators.
• Writes reports and contributes to publications documenting training impact and outcomes.
