Placements24 is seeking a Data Scientist (ML) to join our innovative team in Welkom, Free State. You will develop and deploy predictive models, analyze large datasets, and translate insights into strategic recommendations for stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Master's or PhD in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related quantitative field.
• 3+ years of hands-on experience in data science and machine learning.
• Strong programming skills in Python or R, with libraries such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, scikit-learn, Pandas, NumPy.
• Solid understanding of statistical modeling, ML algorithms (supervised/unsupervised), and deep learning concepts.
• Experience with SQL and big data technologies (Spark, Hadoop).
• Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and their ML services.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop, train, and deploy machine learning models to address business needs.
• Perform in-depth data analysis, identify trends, and extract actionable insights.
• Clean, preprocess, and transform large, complex datasets for modeling.
• Design and conduct A/B tests and other experiments to validate model performance.
• Collaborate with engineers to integrate ML models into production systems.
• Stay abreast of the latest advancements in machine learning and data science.
• Communicate complex findings and recommendations clearly to technical and non-technical audiences.
• Build and maintain data pipelines for model training and inference.
• Develop visualizations and reports to illustrate data insights and model results.
• Contribute to the development of the company's data strategy and best practices.
