Job summary

Texas Oncology in Richardson, TX is seeking a Coding Analyst to join the Research Billing Department. This full-time hybrid role supports the clinic's 8:30a–5:00p schedule at 3001 E. President George Bush Hwy, Suite 100, Richardson.

You will review and assign CPT/HCPCS and ICD-10 codes, ensure claim accuracy, and support the compliance program. The ideal candidate has a high school diploma, CPC, 3+ years coding, and MS Office experience; oncology and billing know-how are a plus.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Successful completion of AAPC Certified Professional Coder Exam required.
  • Minimum three years medical coding experience required.
  • Proficiency with computer systems and Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel) required.
  • Prior oncology experience preferred.
  • Prior medical billing experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Review requests for coding changes (CPT/HCPCS, diagnosis, modifiers, place of service, authorizations, UOM, MUE, NDC) based on payer denials to ensure accurate coding and billing.
  • Abstract relevant clinical information from the medical record and provider documentation to assign ICD-10 and CPT/HCPCS codes in accordance with guidelines.
  • Review and correct coding errors post-claim processing/denial and refile corrected claims to payers.
  • Use LCD/NCD policies to ensure accurate coding for the CMS region.
  • Utilize coding tools such as Optum Encoder and CMS guidelines.
  • Code with an accuracy of 95% or higher based on QA reviews.
