Placements24 in Welkom is seeking a Media Relations Coordinator to support public relations efforts. You will manage day-to-day media interactions, help develop communication materials, and ensure timely responses to inquiries.

The role offers hands-on experience in a fast-paced PR environment and opportunities to shape public discourse around client initiatives. Ideal candidates have a bachelor’s degree in a related field, 0–2 years in media relations, strong writing and communication skills,

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or a related field.
0–2 years of experience in media relations or relevant communications role.
Strong written and verbal communication; crafting press releases is a plus.
Excellent organizational skills with meticulous attention to detail.
Familiarity with media monitoring tools and practices.

Responsibilities

Assist in developing and executing media relations strategies for Welkom-based initiatives.
Respond to media inquiries promptly and coordinate interviews.
Monitor media coverage and compile daily clips and reports.
Draft and edit press releases, media kits, and PR collateral.
Support planning and execution of press conferences and media events.
Maintain and update the media contact database for outreach.
