Job summary

SmithGroup Chicago is seeking a Mechanical Engineering Intern to join our design teams. You will assist in HVAC, plumbing and fire protection system design using Revit and related tools, gaining hands-on experience in a renowned design firm.

Ideal candidates are in early-stage mechanical or architectural engineering programs, with some exposure to Revit, Trane Trace or IESVE and Microsoft Office. The internship runs 12 weeks in May–August with hybrid work options in Chicago.

Qualifications

• Must be enrolled in sophomore year or have graduate standing in mechanical or architectural engineering by internship start.
• Some experience with Revit, Trane Trace and/or IESVE, and Microsoft Office Suite.

Responsibilities

• Work on integrated design teams for architecture and engineering projects.
• Assist in designing HVAC, plumbing and/or fire protection systems in Revit models.
