Job summary

FIS is seeking a Mainframe Software Engineer in Jacksonville for a hybrid role. You will develop, enhance, and support critical card management and payment processing solutions on mainframe platforms using COBOL, z/OS, IMS, CICS, VSAM, DB2, and MQ Series.

Collaboration across teams and adherence to compliance and audit standards are essential. The role emphasizes design, testing, and maintenance across the full development lifecycle, with opportunities to modernize and optimize transaction

Qualifications

COBOL Programming Fundamentals.(1 - 3 years experience)
IBM z/OS Mainframe Knowledge.
Foundational knowledgewith IMS DB/DC, CICS, VSAM, IMS, DB2, and MQ Series.
Knowledge of software development lifecycle practices, testing methodologies, and change management processes.
Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving capabilities.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to work effectively across teams.

Responsibilities

Develop, enhance, andmaintainmainframe applications using COBOL and related technologies.
Design and execute comprehensive unit tests tovalidateapplication functionality and performance.
Collaborate with business, product, quality assurance, and engineering teams throughout the development lifecycle.
Conduct peer code reviews and contribute to continuous improvement of development standards.
Participate in technical design discussions, code walkthroughs, and solution reviews.
Create and maintain technical documentation, test evidence, and change records to support audit and compliance requirements.
