Job summary

AgeSpan in Massachusetts is seeking an Ombudsman to join the Long Term Care Ombudsman Program. You will advocate for residents in nursing and rest homes, coordinate with families, staff, and agencies, and help resolve complaints.

The role requires an associate degree and 1–3 years with elders; a bachelor's is preferred. Bi-lingual English/Spanish is a plus. Pay ranges $26–$28 per hour, with hybrid schedule and generous PTO and benefits.

Qualifications

• Associate degree and 1–3 years of work with elders in community or long term care.
• Bachelor's degree in Health and Human Services preferred.
• Excellent communication, highly organized, flexible work style.

Responsibilities

• Advocate for residents in nursing and rest homes within the program catchment.
• Assess, resolve, and refer concerns from residents and families.
• Complete weekly facility visits and document reports within 48 hours.
• Maintain confidential resident information and report safety concerns immediately.
• Coordinate with facilities, volunteers, and program director as needed.
• Enter data and manage administrative tasks related to Ombudsman duties.
• Provide coverage for facilities when volunteers are unavailable.
