Job summary

RIHousing in Providence, RI is seeking a Loan Accounting Specialist to support multifamily loan servicing. You will perform daily accounting tasks including processing construction and principal advances, reserve deposits, escrow activity, and loan-level reconciliations.

The role requires strong analytical skills, the ability to manage multiple priorities, and adherence to regulatory and investor requirements. Hybrid work arrangement with onsite collaboration in the office.

Qualifications

• Three years of accounting/audit or loan servicing experience, preferably in the public sector.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Experience with MS Office, including spreadsheets, Smartsheet, ShareFile, and loan accounting systems.
• Attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.
• Associate's degree in accounting, business, or related field preferred.

Responsibilities

• Process multifamily construction project requests with complex funding sources, ensuring accurate disbursements and multi-payee funding.
• Set up and maintain recurring and one-time ACH payment drafts.
• Process and post requisitions from principal and reserve accounts.
• Complete annual audit confirmation requests.
• Receive and process surplus cash payments per loan agreements.
• Research and reconcile loan payments, including escrow and reserve balances, resolving discrepancies.
• Review replacement reserve requests for compliance with investor, regulatory, and loan documents.
• Review and process insurance and real estate tax invoices per loan guidelines to minimize risk.
• Coordinate with third-party tax vendors and municipal tax collectors for real estate tax payments.
• Calculate changes to monthly insurance and real estate tax escrow collections based on annual escrow analysis.
• Ensure required property insurance coverage is maintained per policy guidelines.
• Process adjustments to loan-level reserve billings per regulatory guidelines and legal documents.
• Review and update monthly billing statements.
• Communicate with internal/external partners (insurance agents, tax collectors, management agents, auditors).
• Interpret loan documents to ensure compliance with legal, regulatory, and investor requirements.
• Contribute to special projects to enhance loan servicing efficiency.
