Job summary

RIHousing is seeking a Foreclosure Bankruptcy Specialist to manage bankruptcy and foreclosure activities in compliance with laws and investor guidelines. Hybrid role in Providence within the Loan Servicing team, offering collaboration in an office setting.

The position focuses on minimizing risk while coordinating with legal counsel, HUD requirements, and CFPB/FDCPA regulations. Strong analytical, negotiation, and organizational skills are essential, with bilingual ability preferred.

Qualifications

• Paralegal Certification preferred; associate’s degree or related field may suffice.
• Experience in mortgage collections, foreclosure, and bankruptcy is preferred.
• Knowledge of bankruptcy/foreclosure laws and CFPB/FDCPA regulations is expected.

Responsibilities

• Administer foreclosure and bankruptcy activities per policies and regulatory requirements.
• Monitor delinquent accounts and prepare foreclosure referral recommendations.
• Calculate and validate delinquency figures for legal documents and notices.
• Coordinate with counsel to initiate foreclosure and motions for relief as needed.
• Determine HUD foreclosure requirements and coordinate documentation with counsel.
• Review Chapter 7 and 13 bankruptcies to assess debtor intent and plan feasibility.
• Prepare bankruptcy proofs of claim, notices, and post-petition fees for filing.
• Prepare Reaffirmation Agreements for Chapter 7 matters and coordinate with counsel.
• Process pre- and post-petition payments and analyze bankruptcy plans for servicing actions.
• Coordinate with Escrow to ensure annual analyses comply with bankruptcy rules.
• Maintain REO/loan servicing workstations and update records post-foreclosure.
• Manage a pipeline of foreclosure/bankruptcy accounts and monitor key milestones.
• Prepare foreclosure bids and communicate requirements to counsel.
• Provide updates in asset management systems for Fannie Mae/Freddie Mac.
