Job summary

Orionplacement is seeking a Massachusetts-licensed attorney with hands-on insurance defense litigation experience to join our respected civil litigation practice in Boston. You will manage a diverse caseload from evaluation through resolution and work closely with senior attorneys on complex matters.

The role offers meaningful ownership, opportunities to take depositions, draft motions, and participate in hearings, with hybrid flexibility after ramp-up.

Qualifications

• Massachusetts bar admission in good standing required.
• 2+ years in hands-on insurance defense litigation.
• Strong civil litigation background incl. personal injury, professional liability, business, insurance, or related matters.
• Demonstrated experience with depositions, motion practice, discovery, hearings, and settlement negotiations.
• Strong legal research, writing, oral advocacy, and case-management skills.
• Ability to independently manage multiple matters, deadlines, and competing priorities.

Responsibilities

• Manage a diverse litigation caseload from initial evaluation through resolution.
• Develop case strategy and work closely with senior attorneys on complex matters.
• Draft and argue dispositive, discovery, and other substantive motions.
• Conduct legal research and apply statutes, regulations, and case law to complex fact patterns.
• Take and defend depositions involving parties, witnesses, and experts.
• Prepare witnesses and participate in hearings, conferences, settlement negotiations, and trials.
• Evaluate liability, damages, exposure, and overall case risk.
• Communicate effectively with clients, insurers, experts, opposing counsel, and other stakeholders.
• Prepare pleadings, discovery, correspondence, legal memoranda, and other litigation documents.
• Handle matters independently while contributing to a collaborative litigation team.
• Maintain strong attention to detail, professional judgment, and high ethical standards.
