Job summary

Milber Makris Plousadis & Seiden, LLP, a civil litigation defense firm, seeks a legal assistant with law office experience to support attorneys in all phases of litigation from our Purchase, NY office.

The role requires four days in office and one day remote after a training period; applicant should be organized, eager to learn, and able to multitask in a fast-paced environment. Insurance defense exp. is a plus but not mandatory.

Qualifications

• 2+ years’ legal assistant experience in a law office.
• Proficiency in MS Word, Outlook, Excel & Adobe Acrobat.
• Typing with high accuracy and speed.
• Excellent verbal and written communication; strong legal terminology knowledge.
• Skilled in preparing, reviewing, and finalizing legal documents with accuracy and proper filing/ service formatting.
• Proficiency with electronic filings in State and Federal Courts.

Responsibilities

• Draft and finalize pleadings, discovery documents, notices, stipulations, briefs, motions, affidavits, and related items.
• Edit legal documents for accuracy and formatting.
• Prepare reports for insurance carriers; assist with document productions and redactions.
• Assist with witness/exhibit lists and trial binders.
• Coordinate with clients, opposing firms, and courts.
• Manage case calendars and organize electronic and physical files.
• Enter data into databases and spreadsheets; update attorney lists.
