Job summary

The City and County of Denver Auditor’s Office seeks a Lead Internal Auditor to guide day‑to‑day performance and compliance audits for local government functions. Under the Audit Manager you’ll supervise Senior and Associate Auditors and interns, plan fieldwork, review workpapers, and ensure adherence to GAGAS and agency policies.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Public Administration, Public Policy, Government Analytics, Business Administration, or related field.
Three years of professional level experience, including one year as a Senior Internal Auditor.
No substitution of experience for education; additional education may substitute for experience.

Responsibilities

Lead performance and compliance audits and evaluations of local government functions and activities.
Assist with planning, fieldwork, report writing, and presentation of results.
Review workpapers and ensure adherence to GAGAS and internal policies.
Develop audit team performance goals and provide feedback for annual evaluations.
Conduct audit follow-up and present findings to stakeholders.
