Job summary

GenScript Biotech Corporation seeks a Procurement Lead for Direct Materials to guide the direct procurement team, manage end-to-end sourcing for production materials, and ensure daily operations meet SLA and KPI targets.

The role requires strong negotiation, leadership, and cross-functional collaboration to optimize costs, maintain supply continuity, and drive compliant procurement practices in a fast-paced biotech environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Business, Supply Chain Management, Biology and Chemistry, or related fields.
• 3–5 years of procurement experience, preferably in biotech/pharma.
• Leadership or project management experience.
• Strong negotiation, analytical, and communication skills.
• Knowledge of materials used in biotech/pharma production including raw materials and consumables.
• ERP SAP and S2P knowledge is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Lead the direct procurement team to meet SLA and KPI targets and manage performance.
• Oversee material planning for direct materials and replenishment to meet inventory KPIs.
• Drive strategic sourcing and procurement for direct materials and consumables used in production; ensure cost, quality, and regulatory targets.
• Develop alternate vendors to ensure supply continuity and mitigate risks.
• Conduct category management to identify cost-saving opportunities and manage MSAs with suppliers.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including quality and finance to ensure compliant procurement processes.
