Job summary

GenScript USA Inc. in New Jersey seeks a Procurement Lead for Direct Materials to lead the direct procurement team, manage end-to-end sourcing of direct materials and consumables for production, and ensure SLA/KPI targets.

You will negotiate contracts, manage vendor relationships, drive cost-saving initiatives, ensure regulatory compliance, and collaborate cross-functionally to maintain supply continuity in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Business, Supply Chain Management, Biology and Chemistry or related field
• 3-5 years of procurement, strategic sourcing or planning of direct materials, preferably in biotech/pharma
• Demonstrated leadership through people management or project management
• Strong negotiation, analytical, and communication skills
• Knowledge of materials used in biotech/pharma production including raw materials, consumables and packing materials
• Ability to communicate complex situations and identify opportunities for cost reduction

Responsibilities

• Supervise the direct procurement team to ensure smooth daily operations and meet SLA/KPI targets
• Oversee material planning for Green Channel item replenishment to meet inventory KPIs
• Lead strategic sourcing and manage procurement for direct materials and consumables
• Develop alternative vendors to ensure supply continuity and mitigate risks
• Conduct category management to identify cost-saving opportunities
• Negotiate and manage pricing contracts and MSAs with suppliers
• Collaborate with production to support processes and address critical issues
• Maintain supplier relationships and monitor market conditions for timely deliveries
