Sentinel Group in Wakefield, MA is hiring a Junior Software Engineer to join a development team focused on building and modernizing homegrown applications. You will analyze requirements, document specs, write and review code, and assist with releases in an agile environment.

The ideal candidate has 1–3 years of hands-on software experience, strong Python skills, and familiarity with TypeScript, React, SQL, and modern DevOps tooling.

Qualifications

• 1-3 years of experience building or supporting software applications through professional work, internships, coursework, or personal projects.
• Experience developing with Python and familiarity with TypeScript and React.
• Working knowledge of SQL and relational databases.
• Familiarity with REST APIs, automated testing, version control, and CI/CD practices.
• Exposure to Azure DevOps, Azure Pipelines, Azure Repos, Terraform, or Airflow.
• Understanding of secure, maintainable, testable software design and basic application security principles.
• Experience working in an Agile or collaborative, cross-functional development environment.

Responsibilities

• Work with Business Analysts and peers to build software you are proud of.
• Help converting legacy applications into web based applications.
• Build secure and well-defined API’s.
• Build automation with Airflow.
• Utilize Azure DevOps, Azure Pipelines, and Azure Repos and upgrade DevOps processes within Sentinel.
