Job summary

SMX is seeking a Data Science Consultant to support our Army client in a hybrid role based in Crystal City, Arlington, VA. The candidate will design data solutions using Databricks and Palantir Foundry, build data models from ERP datasets, and work with stakeholders to translate business needs into technical specifications.

Ideal candidates have 2+ years of hands-on development, strong SQL/Python/PySpark skills, and familiarity with both relational and non-relational databases.

Qualifications

• 2+ years hands-on development experience.
• Proficiency in SQL, Python and PySpark.
• Experience in data engineering, data science and data analytics.
• Familiarity with Databricks.
• Familiarity with database design and architectures (relational & non-relational).
• Ability to work cross-functionally and document work clearly.
• Knowledge of cloud architecture (AWS/Azure).
• Experience with software engineering tools and processes (estimation, tracking, VCS, debugging).
• Proven ability to work independently and share knowledge through reviews and documentation.
• Active Secret Clearance.

Responsibilities

• Design solutions using Databricks SQL, Python, and PySpark to meet business requirements.
• Modify existing data model solutions as needed.
• Define test cases and verify results to ensure correct functioning.
• Build data models and reports from ERP/legacy datasets.
• Coordinate with stakeholders to translate business requirements into technical specs.
