Job summary

Talanto is seeking a Junior Data Engineer to support the development and maintenance of secure data pipelines and analytics-ready datasets on-site at Camp Smith, HI. You will work with data scientists, engineers, and mission stakeholders using Databricks, Spark, Palantir Foundry, or comparable platforms.

Candidates should have a Bachelor's degree in a technical field and at least 3 years of related experience, strong Python and SQL skills, and the ability to collaborate in an agile environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a related technical field.
• 3+ years of relevant data engineering, software development, data analytics, or enterprise-platform experience.
• Experience with Python and SQL; experience supporting ETL/ELT pipelines and data transformations.
• Familiarity with data validation, data modeling, and data-quality practices; familiarity with Spark, PySpark, Databricks, or comparable technologies.
• Understanding of version control, testing, documentation, and Agile development; ability to collaborate with technical and nontechnical stakeholders; active DoD clearance required.

Responsibilities

• Supports the development and maintenance of secure data pipelines, ETL/ELT workflows, and analytics-ready datasets.
• Works with data scientists, engineers, and mission stakeholders to process structured and unstructured data using Databricks, Spark, Palantir Foundry, Maven Smart Systems, or comparable platforms.
• Collaborates with teams to ensure data quality and accessibility for analytics and reporting.

Education and Background

Bachelors degree in computer science, data science, engineering, information systems, mathematics, or a related technical field. Equivalent combinations of education, technical certification, and relevant professional experience may be considered.

Years of Experience

3+ years of relevant data engineering, software development, data analytics, or enterprise-platform experience.

Required Skills

Experience with Python and SQL; experience supporting ETL/ELT pipelines and data transformations; familiarity with data validation, data modeling, and data-quality practices; familiarity with Spark, PySpark, Databricks, or comparable technologies; understanding of version control, testing, documentation, and Agile development; ability to collaborate with technical and nontechnical stakeholders; active DoD clearance required.

Preferred Skills

Experience with Palantir Foundry, Maven Smart Systems, or War Data Platform; familiarity with AWS or Azure; exposure to Docker, CI/CD, MLflow, APIs, or Terraform; experience supporting DoD or federal mission environments.

Working Conditions

Must be able to work on-site in a SCIF for eight hours per day, five days per week. Personal electronic devices and remote work may be restricted by facility and security requirements.
