Placements24 is seeking a Junior Communications Officer for a hybrid role in Welkom, Free State, ZA. You will work with the communications manager to draft materials, manage social channels, and monitor coverage while supporting our client’s public image.

The position offers entry-level responsibilities, mentorship, and learning opportunities in media relations. Some in-office days are required in Welkom with remote collaboration as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, Marketing, or related field.
• Some internship or entry-level experience in communications or PR is preferred but not essential.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Familiarity with social media platforms and basic content creation.
• Ability to work effectively both independently (remotely) and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Assist in drafting and editing communications materials, including press releases, social media posts, and internal memos.
• Support the management of social media channels, ensuring consistent brand voice and engagement.
• Monitor media coverage and online conversations related to our client and its industry.
• Help organize and coordinate communication events and meetings.
• Conduct research on communication trends and competitor activities.
• Provide administrative support to the communications department.
• Assist in developing content for the company website and newsletters.
• Collaborate with team members on various communication projects.
• Respond to basic media inquiries under supervision.
• Help track the effectiveness of communication campaigns.
