Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a PR and Communications Specialist for a leading financial services institution based in Welkom. This hybrid role blends remote flexibility with in-office collaboration to craft compelling narratives, manage media relationships, and drive communication campaigns across stakeholders.

The ideal candidate has 2-4 years in PR/communications, excellent writing, and knowledge of SA media. You will work with multiple teams to align messaging and support growth in the Free State

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, English, or related field.
• 2-4 years of experience in public relations, media relations, or corporate communications.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with strong grammar and storytelling.
• Familiarity with the South African media landscape and PR best practices.
• Proficiency in social media platforms and content management systems.
• Ability to work independently and in a team.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Experience with media monitoring tools is a plus.
• Proactive, results-oriented mindset.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute public relations and communication strategies to support business objectives.
• Write and edit press releases, articles, blog posts, social media content, and other materials.
• Build and maintain relationships with media contacts, industry influencers, and community partners.
• Monitor media coverage and analyze campaign effectiveness, reporting insights to management.
• Assist in planning and executing communication campaigns and events.
• Support internal communication to keep employees informed and engaged.
• Manage social media channels, creating engaging content and responding to inquiries.
• Assist in developing crisis communication plans and responses as needed.
• Ensure communications align with brand guidelines and company messaging.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather information for consistent communication.
