Job summary

Verizon is seeking a Principal IT SOX Lead to own the IT general controls and modernize compliance across IT applications. You will bridge IT engineering and executive leadership, overseeing the SOX lifecycle from planning through final certification and executive reporting.

This hybrid role focuses on control automation, driving automated validation, and serving as the primary audit liaison with internal and external auditors.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or 4+ years of work experience in IT/compliance
• 6+ years in IT compliance, IT audit, or technical systems engineering
• Hands-on understanding of CI/CD pipelines, SDLC, database architecture, and cloud security
• Advanced knowledge of SOX audit frameworks, US GAAP/SOX requirements, and ITGC evaluation techniques
• Executive storytelling: translating audit data into business insights for leadership

Responsibilities

• Own the IT General Controls (ITGC) roadmap for financial reporting systems across planning, testing, evidence collection, and certification
• Design and implement automated control validation mechanisms to scale compliance
• Lead liaison for CIO, Internal Audit, Finance, and external auditors
• Partner with system owners to evaluate deficiencies and design automated remediation plans
• Direct cross-functional compliance initiatives and manage resources in Agile projects
• Translate audit findings and risk metrics into executive briefings
