Job summary

Ivalua, a leading cloud-based procurement platform, is seeking an IT Operations Engineer in Pittsburgh, PA. The role focuses on sustaining infrastructure, automation, and container workloads within the Platform Engineering team.

You will monitor health, manage VM lifecycles, apply patches, support security, and contribute to reliable services across our global IT footprint. The role offers a hybrid work model with three days in the office weekly.

Qualifications

• 3+ years in IT operations, systems administration, containerization, and infrastructure support
• Understanding of infrastructure-as-code (IaC) and configuration management principles
• Familiarity with infrastructure provisioning and automation tools
• Basic containerization concepts (containers, images, orchestration)
• Scripting in PowerShell, Bash, or Python for automation
• Networking fundamentals (DNS, IP, routing, firewalls)
• Cloud infrastructure concepts (IaaS, VM management, storage)
• Monitoring and alerting experience
• Security and vulnerability management understanding
• Linux/Windows system administration
• Aim to improve system performance and operational efficiency
• Bachelor’s degree in IT or equivalent experience

Responsibilities

• Execute and support infrastructure automation workflows and pre-defined automation jobs
• Maintain and run configuration management and provisioning pipelines
• Manage and support containerized workloads and service lifecycles
• Monitor infrastructure health and respond to real-time alerts
• Perform VM lifecycle management (provisioning/resizing/decommissioning)
• Execute patch management and system updates
• Support vulnerability remediation and incident escalation
• Perform backup validation and restoration tasks
• Maintain operational docs and runbooks
• Assist onboarding/offboarding of systems and users
• Conduct peer reviews for changes and tasks
• Ensure clean shift handoffs with proper documentation
• Support routine maintenance and operational activities
• Serve as operations contact for cross-functional teams
• Assist capacity monitoring and scaling recommendations
• Report on system performance and utilization metrics
• Collaborate with senior engineers on complex issues
• Contribute to a consistent operational tempo
